My favorite time of day is and always has been early morning. In the quite hours even the busiest of places can be enjoyed alone. This lone dock was bustling all week, on my final day in the Mayan Riviera I decided to visit it for one last look, at 5am, happily finding it in welcoming isolation.

What you're looking at is truly a wonder of the world, the Great Getu Arch in China's Getu Valley. In select times of year, this giant sun beam, seen here, shines through the 500ft+ arch at sunrise.
While working on assignment for National Geographic Traveler I was lucky enough to photograph a family of ranchers running their 130+ heard of horses from Winter to Spring pasture near the mission mountains in Montana. This annual 30 mile workout is intended to give these powerful animals a tiring run to work out penned up energy and get them ready for the spring season ahead.

I love those quick glimpses nature gives you on stormy days. Patagonia's Torre Range is notorious for bad weather, and this day was simply that. The heavy clouds did break through briefly enough to give me a peak at the beautiful mountains it was hiding.

Luck favors the prepared! While working on assignment for National Geographic in the alps I was very lucky to see this young Ibex emerge from behind the rocks while photographing Les Chessery Lake high above the town of Chamonix. It was an unexpected moment and lasted less than a minute before the small animal disappeared, going on it's way.
